Problem
The modern world is rapidly gaining momentum. Life is accelerating day by day, the pace of business is growing and all this inevitably affects the lack of time for proper nutrition. Busy people want to be able to order their favorite Italian food and not waste time on restaurants and cooking.
Goal
To create an app that will allow you to eat right and simultaneously save time that you can always spend with your family, kids or friends.
Research
To gather information about the key aspects of the project and maximize immersion in the needs of the target audience, I conducted interviews among people who have experience ordering food (including Italian) via the Internet.
What people think about this kind of apps
On average, out of the total number of respondents.
80% consider the ordering process to be extremely lengthy and complicated.
45% of users have difficulty finding the right dishes.
52% can’t edit the order after confirmation (or don’t understand how to do it).
Key pain points
1
Everyone wants to have time to do everything at work and at home.
2
People need to eat low-calorie food.
3
Busy people tend to save time.
4
Users should spend their free time with their family and/or friends.

Typical User Persona: Emily
«I want to spend my free time with my family, not cooking or visiting restaurants».
Emily leads a healthy lifestyle, runs in the mornings and monitors her weight. Her main priority now is a career, she works hard 6 days a week and often goes on business trips. The work takes too much time, and Emily wants to spend her free time with her family and kids, not cooking by the stove.
Goals
- To keep up to do all the things at work and home.
- To save time.
- To eat low-calorie food.
Frustrations
- I don't have time to go to restaurants or cook at home.
- I'm not good at websites, apps, and other technological stuff.
Wireframes
This is one of the most critical stages of the project. It's especially important to think through everything thoroughly in view of the fact that there are a huge number of similar apps on the market, among which there are many that don’t always suit users in everything.

Screen types developed
All developed screens can be divided into several categories.
product screens (60%)
user screens (15%)
order screens (25%)
Prototypes
Before proceeding to the drawing of the mockups, it’s extremely necessary to think through the user's step-by-step movement through all the key points of the application. This allowed me to see firsthand how the app features will work after launch.

Testing clickable prototypes gave me amazing conclusions. I have corrected a number of elements, abandoned something altogether, added something new. By the stage of drawing the final mockups, I had a clear idea of the future result.
Usability study: findings
These are the key results of the usability study.
1
Users want the navigation of the app to be more intuitive and easy to understand.
2
Users need a more convenient presentation of products.
3
Users are waiting for an easier way to complete the order.
4
Less emphasis is needed on advertising blocks (for example, sponsored food).
Mockups
Critical changes in the structure and logic of design information became apparent to me. I've redesigned some product screens and made it much easier for the user to feed data in the screens. The order has become as simple and accessible as possible for all categories of users.
Left: welcome screen. Right: the main screen of the app (categories and recommended dishes).
Left: pasta category screen (with a list of products). Right: video ad banner of a sponsored dish.
Left: product screen. Right: checkout order screen.
Colors, fonts, grid and icons for the project.
Conclusions
To create a "just another food app" is very easy. It’s much more difficult to do something really nice and something that will bring people joy and real benefits day after day. Anyway I’ll try!
a Quote from user feedback
Now ordering is just like one-two-three. It's quite easy. I'd say easy-peasy!
